Version history of MCards
MCards crashes in list view (PalmOS) ^
Older PalmOS PDA's generally have less memory than Window Mobile versions. The list view with a large number of flash cards requires a large memory. MCards check the available memory when it fills the list. If the memory is low it stops and tells you how many flash cards are loaded. The program may nevertheless crash, especially when one leaves through the pages. There is no way of avoiding this. I know this is inconvenient but at least no data is lost.

Exercises do not appear in PDA after ActiveSynch ^
Windows Mobile and PocketPC have an unexpected feature. If programs are closed with the cross in the top right corner of the window, they appear to be closed. They are in fact still running, only they are not visible. MCards and PCards only scan at the start for new exercises. Please therefore end the programs with the close button only, and not with the cross. This ensures that they really do shut down and free the memory. When restarting all the new exercises will be shown.
This strange behavior is annoying. The programs bombard the memory and the PDA gets slower and slower. To deal with this I use a small tool, called a WIS Bar. It's free, just google for it.

Error on program start: "Please install the ... font file!" ^
When SuperWaba is already installed on the PDA from another application, two font files are missing:
- You 2 PhoneticSmallBold.pdb
- You 2 PhoneticLargeBold.pdb
Download the files here. To install them, Please follow the instructions in ReadMe.

Installation on memory cards ^
Modern PDA's come with much more internal memory, anyway sometimes it is not enough. Here are some hints how to install MCards on external memory cards.
Windows Mobile 2005 / 5.0
It's no problem to install on external memory cards. Just keep in mind to install everything on the memory card (SuperWaba, MCards and databases). Don't mix installation types, MCards will not run or will not find the databases.
There is an entry in PrismaCards.ini needed in order that PrismaCards is able to find MCards on external memory. Without this entry export to PDA and synch will not work.!
- Please open PrismaCards.ini file with an editor (e.g. NotePad, not with Word!).
- the PrismaCards.ini-file is in folder "My documents/PrismaCards"
- in [Settings] section is an prepared entry:
#MemoryCardsPath=\SD-MMCard
- To activate this entry remove the # at the beginning of the line. The path of external memory cards my have a different name (depends on the manufacturer). So you have to adjust it to the name of your external memory card (SD-MMCard ist the default).
After the changes it looks like this:
[Settings]
MemoryCardsPath=\MyMemoryCard
Sprache=GER
......
Windows Mobile 2003 / PocketPC
There is strange behavior in the cab-installer, so it will not work unless you fix the installation by yourself. For the case you are familiar with your PDA we provide instructions how to fix the problem. Please send us an
and ask for it. Even when you fix the install problem there is a drawback in daily use. Every database you transfer in PrismaCards to your PDA you have to move to the right folder. Due this we recommend to install on internal memory.
PalmOS
The easiest way is to use an extra launcher. Most of them can handle applications on external memory cards. Customers made good experience with ZLauncher and NLauncher.

Installation am PDA does not start ^
The installation for MCards is designed to run on PC. When you download it direct on the PDA and try to start it, it will fail. Please run the installation from your PC!
We will offer an installation direct on PDA very soon.

What do I need if I want to learn....? ^
Here different possible scenarios are pointed out:
Learn only on PC
The full version of PrismaCards is needed. Thus own flash cards can be created. Additionally there are many data bases with flash cards for different languages and topics can be bought.

Learn only with the PDA/SmartPhone
First you should decide which learning system you prefer. Then you know which program you need (PCards or MCards at the PDA, SmartCards for the SmartPhone). All three programs are free. With the programs at the PDA it is possible to create and edit flash cards,, but at the PDA that is not very effective. You can bye some of the additional data bases with flash cards for different languages and topics.

Create own flash cards and learn on PC and/or PDA/SmartPhone
The full version of PrismaCards is needed. Thus own flash cards can be created. Additionally there are many data bases with flash cards for different languages and topics can be bought.
After you decided which learning system you prefer you know which program you need (PCards or MCards at the PDA, SmartCards for the SmartPhone). All three programs are free. With PrismaCards the flash cards can be exported to PDA/SmartPhone. You are ready to learn 'mobile' wherever and whenever you want.
Of course you can acquire some the additional data bases with flash cards. At the PC these are then expandable and can be transferred to the PDA/SmartPhone.
Summary
You 2 Software provides you with a range of opportunities for improving your knowledge in a very effective way. Whatever you decide to do, you can try all of the programs to see if you like what's on offer.
